Jamaica offers so many different types of vacation rental properties that you are sure to find the right property to fit your budget and preferences. Villas offer you a great sense of freedom because you can come and go as you please, have the seclusion and privacy, and still have the luxury and comforts of an upscale hotel. Villas are usually roomier than hotels as well.

The smaller and more economical type of vacation rental property is the apartment or condominium. In Jamaica apartments and condos are simple units in buildings that provide basic accommodations.  They are usually smaller and offer one living area, bedroom(s), verandah and usually a kitchen. They do not have the luxurious frills of other properties but usually have a common pool that is shared with the guests, a front desk where you can request information and some even still come with the staff. For the most part apartments and condos have the same amenities as a hotel but can also come with a kitchen and sometimes a staff to do the cooking and housekeeping. They offer a good value for the money.

Villas in Jamaica are the most popular type of vacation rental property on the island. They come in many different sizes from the quaint and comfortable 1 bedroom cottages to the large and luxurious 9 bedroom mansions. Both of these options and everything in between can be economical. For example, renting a large 9 bedroom villa is great for a group of 18 and splitting the cost between a group of 19 can make staying in a large villa very affordable.

Most villas in Jamaica come fully staffed. This usually includes at least a cook, housekeeper, and gardner, and sometimes a butler and laundress. All the villas that are staffed come with a security guard. They work from 6pm to 6am to ensure the safety of their guests. That is just another added benefit of staying in a fully staffed Jamaican villa.

Almost all of the Jamaica villas have a private pool, and some have gyms and tennis courts for the more active guests. Quite a few villas are beachfront or offer passes to private beach clubs that are exclusive to guests staying at particular villas. Usually these beach clubs are with in walking distance or just 5 – 10 minute drive from the villa. Quite a few villas, mainly in Montego Bay, offer day passes to resort properties that give their guests access to the hotels pools, beach, resort activities, water sports, and more. There is usually no extra cost for this type of resort access.

Having a private cook is great for those who have special dietary needs or just prefer certain foods. When you arrive at the villa you will sit down with the cook to discuss your meal preferences. This is the time to tell the cook of any specific allergies or dietary needs. The cook can then do the grocery shopping while you sit, relax and get settled in. And while you are relaxing don’t hesitate to ask your butler for a tropical drink. They are there to make your vacation the most enjoyable one yet!

Keep in mind that these villas can book up quickly, especially for the holiday seasons. If you are planning on traveling during the holiday, especially for the larger villas, you should start planning at least a year in advance. Booking early will benefit you to be able to choose the villa you really want. High season in general can book up quickly as well. High season is considered December through April with low season April through December. Other holiday seasons that book up quickly is Easter, Spring Break and Thanksgiving.
